Reapers Lose 2 Against West Aurora in Last at Bats

The Reapers (3-6) fell twice against the Blackhawks (5-4-1) on Monday night at West Aurora High School. In the first game Plano took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Reapers could not avoid the big inning as walks and timely hitting by West Aurora led to the collapse. The fourth inning saw the Blackhawks put up 8 runs to take the 10-4 victory.

Game two was a pitching battle between the Reapers and the Blackhawks. The Reapers lost the heartbreaker on a suicide squeeze in the bottom of the 5th inning to lose 1-0. Luke Romano came in relief to start the fifth inning and took the loss in the nightcap. The Reapers hung with the West Aurora hitters losing the hitting edge 9-8.

The Reapers will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Streamwood High School to take on the 4A Quarter Finalist Sabers.

The Reapers got a great pitching performance in Game 1 from Cody Dryden. Costly errors and untimely hitting did the Reapers in. Dryden pitched all 5 innings giving up 3 runs (only 2 of which were earned) on 3 hits, 5 strikeouts, and 1 base on balls. Trent Bowers and Luke Romano got the only hits for the Reapers in the game.

Game 2 saw a better result for the Reapers on another strong pitching performance, this time by Kyle Doney. Doney went all 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, 6 strikeouts, and 4 free passes. Dryden came up big for the Reapers at the plate going 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 5 rbi. Kelby Gann, Arian Herrera, and Bowers got the only other hits for the Reapers in the game.
